Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

The Pioneer House Interim Housing Program (PH) serves single males, 18 years or older, who have lived on the streets, in emergency shelters, in places not meant for human habitation or released from an institution where they resided for less than 90 days and were homeless prior to being institutionalized.

The Emmanuel House's goal is to provide an opportunity for homeless veterans and those struggling with addiction to participate in steps toward employment, resume writing, interview skill building, and securing a temporary address for employment purposes; the House provides transportation to and from jobs. The Emmanuel House also offers mental health services in addition to substance abuse recovery services.
