Mental Health

We complement the traditional treatment for Veterans with PTSD, TBI, and MST, by training them and their dog to become highly effective ADA compliant service dog teams. Each of our Veterans has a story that brought them to us. By working alongside these Warriors, we help them write a new chapter of hope for a more promising future.

We are a community-based organization focused on helping make the world around us a better, happier place. With the help of our tireless staff, we provide residential recovery services for men and women who are experiencing substance use disorders, mental health issues and are homeless. We do not receive any Federal, State or Local government funding. All Program participants are self pay. Shalom Does offer 30 day scholarships when funding permits. All clients pay on a sliding scale for their stay. All Participants are provided with breakfast, lunch and Dinner, and dessert and snacks. Coffee, ice-tea, milk and water are for all meals served.

The Shelter Association of Washtenaw County (SAWC) provides many services for those struggling with homelessness. Some services offered include a residential shelter program with case managers, a non-residential program for those who don't require a shelter stay, a warming center and rotating shelter in the winter, a recuperative care program for those in need of a place to recover and receive medical supervision, a transitional program for those coming from an outpatient detox program elsewhere, and an on-site health clinic and kitchen.

Our programs provide the strength and opportunities families need to overcome a variety of challenges – ranging from homelessness to domestic violence, mental illness, substance abuse, extreme poverty, trauma, and other factors which stand in the way of success. Our goal is to foster a society where every child and family we serve will have the opportunity to succeed and thrive. We address the effects of social inequity in the most challenged communities in New York City.
