The Detroit Justice Center (DJC) is a non-profit law firm working alongside communities to create economic opportunities, transform the justice system, and promote equitable and just cities. In addition to outreach and advocacy, DJC offers the services of community legal workers who can perform legal research and investigation into the tax assessment appeal process and water shut off process, conduct client interviews, help community members complete forms, accompany clients to hearings and department meetings, and educate the community about their rights.

Our mission is to assist individuals and families with immediate, short-term needs such as food, rent, utilities, and other specialized services, which if not met, would threaten an individual’s or family’s stability. By providing these services Helping Hand seeks to prevent those in need of basic services from falling into homelessness.
