United Way Association of South Carolina (UWASC) works to maximize the capacity and effectiveness of local United Ways and provide leadership on issues that impact the quality of life of South Carolina residents. Through a network of collective partnerships, UWASC is committed in its efforts to: Provide support and enhance capacity of local United Ways Coordinate and champion action on significant public policy issues; and Improve effectiveness and coordination of health and human services in South Carolina.
Founded in 1970 as a community mental health organization, Southwest Solutions' programs have grown to include adult literacy, services for the homeless and veterans, financial literacy and home-buyer counseling, job training, urban and minority entrepreneur programs, and neighborhood and community development, including development and operation of affordable housing.
The Veterans Practice, LTD. is on the referral list for the Veterans' Legal Aid Society. The firm assists veterans with benefits applications and appeals through a pro bono service program and provides pro bono community outreach and educational programs to non-profits and municipalities.
The Southwest Michigan Veterans Relief Fund (SWMVRF) is a charitable fund that provides emergency assistance and support to area veterans and their families in times of need. The fund is available to assist wartime and non-wartime veterans and is specifically intended to help veterans who might not qualify for government-funded financial relief programs.
