Washtenaw Association for Community Advocacy (WACA) advocates for and provides education for people with disabilities and their families. Services provided include a sliding scale fee for service program to help parents secure Individualized Education Plans for their children, transitional services for disabled youth reaching adulthood, and a family support subsidy to help pay for special expenses the family has while caring for severely disabled children.

In 1982, The Cooperative Ministry was founded by five churches (First Presbyterian Church, Main Street Methodist, Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Washington Street United Methodist Church, and First Baptist Church) in downtown Columbia.
