In 1982, The Cooperative Ministry was founded by five churches (First Presbyterian Church, Main Street Methodist, Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Washington Street United Methodist Church, and First Baptist Church) in downtown Columbia. The goal was to establish a collaborative method of administering assistance to those in need, while also preventing the duplication of services.

The mission of Pee Dee Community Action Partnership is to develop and improve low-income communities and neighborhoods through economic and related development, with a primary function of developing projects and activities designed to enhance economic opportunities of the people we serve and to implement and advocate developmental and human services delivery programs for socially and economically disadvantaged elderly, children and families. Our program performance will be tracked with the use of the ROMA and other Federal and State mandated systems.

SCRAP is a non-profit recycling organization dedicated to upcycling/repurposing recycled material in creative ways, as well as educating children (and adults!) through field trips, school presentations, teacher training, art camp opportunities, hosting events, and even hosting birthday parties. SCRAP not only collects clean and reusable art/craft/office supplies, but all sorts of common recyclable items to provide materials for its programs.

Veterans Connected directly assists veterans in need, and has provided a car for a veteran who needed transportation for work, paid for car insurance for a vet in need who was in danger of losing his job, provided a vet with a new furnance for their home, and more.
