HIV/AIDS

Since 2004, Teen HYPE (Helping Youth by Providing Education) has reached more than 35,000 Detroit-area youth through programming that assures every young person reaches their potential. Each year, hundreds of students in dozens of local schools are provided with adolescent health programs that emphasize future-oriented thinking, effective communication and avoiding risky behaviors. Additionally, more than 600 teens have been trained as Peer Educators who are dedicated to community service, social justice, and risk avoidance. Some of Teen HYPE's current programming includes its peer education program, annual theatrical productions, risk avoidance/sexual education/substance abuse prevention programs, and free confidential HIV/STI testing and counseling services for 13-29 year olds in the community.
