Founded in 1967, and located in the heart of the Charleston Historic District, Charleston Area Senior Citizens, Inc. is a non-profit agency serving Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester Counties. CASC helps seniors through a variety of services. Most CASC programs and services target low income seniors and are offered at no charge, primarily serving those who cannot pay. Although CASC utilizes federal, state, local funds and private donations, community support is what makes the difference in changing seniors’ lives. We provide an opportunity for all community members to help needy seniors.

Through Immersive Replicative Imagery and a riveting photo slideshow, the Outdoors For Everyone Project brings the benefits of the outdoors to those who can’t otherwise get to the outdoors and experience it for themselves, including those in hospitals, senior homes, and inner city schools. A program consists of two parts: an exhibit of large, free-standing, as-if-you-were-there imagery, combined with a photo slideshow featuring interesting and informative storytelling focused on the many fascinating aspects of our National Parks and the outdoors.

The Douglas Center is a non-profit organization that provides community day services for individuals with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities. The center provides services for 138 clients on a daily basis. The current facility boasts 40,000 square feet and comprehensive programming, empowering participants to make choices for their personal growth and development. It services individuals with disabilities from ages 18 to 100 residing in Chicago, Skokie, and surrounding suburbs. The center provides unique opportunities for acquiring skills for future employment to learning to manage their disability as they get older.
