Abuse

Whiskers mission is to provide abandoned, abused, and stray animals with a place of comfort, safety, and health and ultimately find them loving, responsible, permanent homes. We specialize in helping animals that have no advocate; those that have been abandoned on the streets or who have been abused. To help fulfill our mission, Whiskers operates a shelter and maintains foster homes for housing lost, homeless, abandoned, injured or sick animals. We conduct fundraising activities, solicit public contributions, and sell donated items to raise money to support our mission.  Whiskers is run 100% by the efforts of volunteers so every dollar donated goes directly to the care of the animals.

VOW was founded so that survivors of domestic violence can help shape the policies, actions and regulations that impact abused women and children. The success of our first initiative, the Battered Mother’s Justice Campaign, encouraged us to develop organizing campaigns focused on reforming housing and child welfare programs in New York City. Our campaigns affect thousands of women annually. We are committed to ensuring that the systems in place to aid survivors of domestic violence and their children are effective and responsive. Through diverse collaborations, we educate the public about issues facing survivors of domestic violence and their children. We wish to be recognized as the leading community organization dedicated to bettering the lives of survivors of domestic violence and their children.
