Those with ASD will respond differently to various techniques. However, these are the most effective strategies. Which one is best for you?

First, it is important to note that the earlier that a child recieves therapy the better!

1. Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). This therapy works to change behavior based on working principles that stem from behavioral psychology. There are numerous branches of therapy that are all based off of the dynamic of ABA. Check out the link all the way below to see them.

2.Speech Therapy for deficits in communication.

3. Occupational Therapy (OT). This is actually what I am applying for graduate school this year for! OT will help with sensory integration, fine and gross motor skills and daily activities.

4. Physical Therapy (PT). This therapy focuses more in-depth on gross motor skills.

5. Certain medications such as Risperidone, which is the first FDA approved medication for those with ASD.

6. There are numerous other therapy techniques… rocking, music therapy, dark rooms, etc.
